About

Optimizing established processes, upgrading immature processes

The Karlsruhe Research Factory for AI-integrated Production was founded by the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation (IOSB), the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) and the wbk Institute of Production Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and is jointly operated by the three research institutes. It creates the unique opportunity to research the future topic "Intelligent Production" on real processes in a practical way.

Based on the latest methods of digitization and artificial intelligence, science and industry jointly transfer innovative, challenging manufacturing processes from the idea to operational practice in the shortest possible time. The aim is for manufacturing companies and machine and plant manufacturers to be able to serve the market with the new products much earlier. This means that "immature" processes - those still in the development stage - can be industrialized much more quickly. In addition, established processes are also to be further improved through the use of intelligent production engineering methods and the pooling of the research partners' expertise.
